Bananas and Chocolate are always a good choice, right? But FROZEN bananas dipped in dark chocolate covered in toasted nuts?!! These take all your worries away.
I must admit that I didn’t think I’d love these as much as I did. I had a bowl full of sorry looking bananas that were begging not to be thrown into yet another banana bread, so I tried out this throwback treat! These Frozen Banana-Pops are a slightly more grown up version than I remember from my childhood, using toasted nuts instead of crushed candy. But don't let that stop your inner child, use whatever you fancy!
These are dead easy, and fun, to make. Kids will enjoy choosing their own toppings and you can enjoy the dairy-free and healthy-ish ice cream break! xoxo Kirsty
Ingredients for 4 Banana-Pops
2 bananas
1 cup (180g) dark chocolate, roughly chopped
1 cup (approx. 160g) toasted peanuts, hazelnuts, almonds (your choice!), and/or a variety of sprinkles or crushed candy
4 popsicle sticks
Halve the bananas and insert a popsicle stick into each cut end. Freeze on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet for at least 2 hours.
Prepare the dipping station. Melt chocolate at 30 second intervals in the microwave until smooth. Stir well after each interval. Toast and chop the nuts of your choice. You can use different nuts on different pops!
Dip the frozen bananas into the chocolate, use a spoon to cover any bare bits. Then sprinkle with your toppings of choice. Return to the freezer for at least an hour before indulging, and cracking into that beautiful layer of chocolate.
